LEDs require specific, LED-compatible dimmers. If used with dimmers designed for incandescent bulbs, this may result in flickering. And this poses a concern for the lifespan of LED bulbs. This is the most common problem.

Many people also install non-dimmable LED bulbs on LED dimmers or halogen dimmers. This shortens the life of the bulbs and creates this flickering.

Voltage Fluctuations

Voltage variations in the electrical circuit can cause flashing. This may be due to large household appliances which consume a lot of energy which is thrown into your installation and can also shorten the lifespan of LED lighting.

For example in a store or bakery, the electric ovens are not on separate lines, this can create undervoltage or overvoltage when they are cut off.

Connection Problems

Loose or corroded connections can also be the cause of flashing. It is important to check the connections, especially during an old renovation, or if the previous installation was halogen. Heating old halogen bulbs can damage the wiring.
